Hi, remember me? I'm your friendly neighborhood GM. I've been on hiatus for the past couple of weeks thanks to a combination of computer troubles and the fact that it's nearing finals, and as we speak, I should be studying and writing not one but three different papers. (Four if we count one that's due a week from now.) I'll be on hiatus probably until the first or second week of May. Depends on how hard I work my ass off now.

All negativity aside, not sure if you guys heard yet, but the April plot will be extended until my hiatus is over, in part because we're all scrambling all over the place and in part because I'm not at all ready to send the magician off to help you guys wrap up the plot and move on to the May one.

Also, the corebook. It's a bit outdated, so it'll go through a slight rewrite when I'm done with my schoolwork. A lot of the things I'm planning for it will be in effect from here on out, so look below the cut for details:

Rules
- Notes about historical accuracy will be given a bit more leniency. While we still think it would be awesome if you did your homework before signing up, I'd like to emphasize the fact that you don't need to do more than watch your fair share of John Wayne movies to know what the hell is going on. This is to lessen the intimidation factor.

Character Guidelines
- Wealthy characters are now accepted, although one must keep in mind that a wealthy character + region full of outlaws = asking for it.
- Dead parents have always been accepted; I'm just clarifying that.
- The having nothing to do with pokémon rule. While people from Blanca tend to have their own out of necessity, easterners don't always have them, depending on where you're from. Urban dwellers usually don't out of space constraints. The wealthy don't have to have anything to do with them if they don't want to (although owning pokémon tends to be a status symbol in general).
- By "no, your character cannot live outside the area," we mean "outside of the huge-ass county of Tin." As in, no, your character cannot currently live in Cobalt or another neighboring city because it's so damn far away. Feel free to come from there, though. I really don't care.
- Almost everyone in Blanca carries a gun. (Although you're free to be an exception so long as you don't ask for something like a pair of katana instead.) What the hell was I thinking when I wrote that rule?
- You're now free to have your character's starter be an eevee. However, eevee are still rare in the US, so good luck explaining how you got one.

Technology
- Airships are being completely redesigned. Among these changes are these:
1. Airships and skyships are the same thing. Airship tends to be the preferred term (i.e., the one you'll hear most often, regardless of social circle... except for the Canadians for some reason), simply because it rolls off the tongue better. However, pirates that pilot airships are called "sky pirates."
1a. A sky pirate is usually not the same kind of pirate that pillaged in the Caribbean (i.e., stereotype). Some are, but a number of them tend to be simply thieves, assassins, or generally disgruntled former rebels. A good example for a sky pirate crew would probably be the crew of the Serenity on the Joss Whedon television series, Firefly.

2. Airships come in a variety of different designs, depending on which company made them. Some of these look like metal-plated blimps. Others actually look like the Firefly-class cargo ship and rely on steam-powered jets. And still others have a plethora of different designs I'm too lazy to list. Numerous companies have capitalized on the airship market, and each one claims to have come up with a design that's the best in the market. The best, however, are actually owned by the military for their own air force; these have been engineered by the government.

3. They're not entirely common (particularly in a place like Blanca), and the local connotation of the word airship usually conjures images of sky pirates. However, outside of Blanca, particularly in the East and Europe, they're used for a variety of functions, including to serve as cargo ships, passenger ships, and flying tanks for the military.
3a. As a result, not all ships are actually equipped with weapons. While sky pirates tend to be a threat in the air, this is basically like saying every airplane is/has been equipped with their own defenses. Yes, it doesn't make too much sense, but basically, cargo ships need room for cargo, and to get the maximum amount of revenue, passenger ships need places to seat customers.
3ai. Luckily, because there's so many different designs for ships, it's sometimes difficult to tell an armed ship from an unarmed ship unless it's part of a famous and recognizable line. (For example, the Star line is a famous class of English airship that look like metal blimps with the balloons painted bright red. Likewise, the American military ships are sleeker ships tagged with an American flag painted on the side where it's easily spotted.)

- Weapons. For the sake of simplicity, we're going to basically limit the sections to pistols (possibly with a subsection about derringers), rifles, knives, and blunt weapons (with subsections for brass knuckles, staffs, et cetera). While you're free to get specific, it's just that most of us aren't weapons experts enough to put that much detail into our apps. So long as you don't ask for a gun that's pretty damn obviously overpowered for the time period (like stuff that can go through metal several inches thick), we probably won't care.
-- Although we still kinda expect you to do your homework here as well.

General Note
- We are no longer accepting donated NPCs (i.e., NPCs the staff doesn't create themselves). While you're still free to include things like close friends, family, and necessary associates (like a teacher or boss), you can't submit any other kinds of NPCs to the game to add to the world (such as, for example, a pirate that has nothing to do with your character). We've gotten an overflow of these kinds of characters a few months ago and ended up with a bunch of people we couldn't ever actually use. Hence, it's easier for us.

Just a suggestion - perhaps you should just state no buffalo rifles? Since those were the only weapons of the time that would have been able to shoot through metal plates.

Also, I'd be happy to re-write what I originally wrote for the weapons/tech and airships bit.

Several inches thick? But in any case, I figure the "no shooting through metal plating" should probably be enough of a given.

As for your offer, thanks, but I think I'd rather write them this time around. It'd be easier to keep everything in compliance. (For example, don't mean to offend you, but I think a lot of people didn't realize skyships and airships were two different things.)

I don't think "several inches thick" was ever mentioned. I always thought of tanks when I thought of their armour, and early tanks had armour that was surprisingly thin.

Historically, everything of that time would have iron armour, not steel - steel of the time tended to shatter if it got hit by a heavy projectile (like solid shot). I don't know if that'll be of any use.

No offense taken. XD As I recall, only the creators actually cared to use the correct terms and everyone else just used them interchangeably.
